If it wasn't for our dedicated team, usually working for little of no pay, the Black Cockatoo Rehabilitation Center wouldn't be what it is today.

Yvonne and Fred

Yvonne and Fred founded the Black Cockatoo Rehabilitation Centre and worked intensely with the Department of Conversation and later on with the Perth Zoo. Yvonne and Fred has spent the last 10 years working with the Black Cockatoo's collecting injured black cockatoos, caring for injured Black Cockatoos and releasing Black Cockatoos that have been successfully rehabilitated back into the wild.

In the last few years Fred and Yvonne have travelled 100,000kms and rescued 306 Black Cockatoos and successfully released 107 rehabilitated Black Cockatoos back to their own family groups who readily accept them. 41 live in captivity for breeding programs and/or to help rehabilitation of other injured Black Cockatoos. We call these Nanny birds.

Yvonne and Fred have personally funded most of the activities associated with the Black Cockatoos at great personal expense.

Yvonne and Fred have done some ground breaking work with these birds and have found with the assistance of the rehabilitated Black Cockatoo, that they can release a particular bird back into its family group.

Yvonne and Fred have passed this special knowledge on to the rest of the staff.

In July 2007 the Black Cockatoo Rehabilitation Centre moved to another facility in the northern part of the hills in Perth, Western Australia. This facility is dedicated to the survival of Black Cockatoos and the fight to keep these magnificent birds alive for generations to come.

Yvonne and Fred met Andrea and Glenn, who showed the same passion in rehabilitation for Black Cockatoo's. As a result in 2006 the Black Cockatoo Preservation Society of Australia Incorporated was founded.

Andrea and Glenn Andrea

Andrea and Glenn have spent a considerable amount of time with Yvonne and Fred and have absorbed as much knowledge as possible and now manage the new facility.
Andrea and Glenn are supported by Bill, Glenn's father and Dennis. Andrea and Glenn have two daughters Jayde and Codi who are eager to help out where they can. As a committed team Andrea, Bill, Glenn, Jayde and Codi readily collect and transport injured black cockatoos and rehabilitate them for release back into their family groups in the wild.

Glenn works fulltime in another job to help fund the facility and Andrea works part time to look after the Black Cockatoos.

Jayde and Codi

Jayde and Codi are actively involved in the day to day running of the Black Cockatoo facility and they can identify with the different species of Black Cockatoos which are male and female.
