Mission - Conservation of the Black Cockatoo

The mission of the Black Cockatoo Rehabilitation Centre is to care for, rehabilitate and release Black Cockatoo's to their families in the wild, and hopefully the video tours on this site will help you to see how important this project is.

Andrea, Bill, Jayde, Codi and I are hard-core conservationists, environmentalists, and naturalists at the Black Cockatoo Rehabilitation Centre and active members of The Black Cockatoo Preservation Society of Australia. We have and still are breaking exciting new territory in Black Cockatoo rehabilitation, release and research.

With the expertise and knowledge gained from Yvonne and Fred we are breaking the traditional moulds, making a quantum leap into identifying with the Black Cockatoos and being able to release them back to their family groups. We have and are still setting new benchmarks for the protection and rehabilitation of these special and endangered birds.

Our core functions are to:

* To stop the extinction of the Black Cockatoo within Western Australia.

* To arrange immediate care for in need of attention and injured Black Cockatoos.

* To rehabilitate injured Black Cockatoos so that they can released back into their family groups located in the wild.

* Further research the different family groups of birds and what flocks they belong to.

* Educate business, government and the public on the importance of saving the nesting and feeding grounds of the Black Cockatoo.

* Enlist the help of the people of Western Australia, Australia and the world.

* Establish partnerships with business, government, other environmental groups and the public to benefit the Black Cockatoo bleak outlook into the future.
